I went in for our third ultrasound yesterday (low-lying placenta) and it was awesome! I got to see your cute little nose and chubby little cheeks. You were smiling at us (well, the ultrasound probe) and was kicking your legs and swinging your arms. You’re about 2 1/3 pounds. The ultrasound technician said we’re right on the due date, only off by a day.

I was also very excited because we know everything looks normal and healthy and we also know if you’re a boy or a girl. But because Daddy doesn’t want to know, Mommy’s only told Butters. So as of right now, only Mommy and Butters know what you are. I am sure Butters’ going to be super happy to meet you and play with you.

By the way, Mommy’s sorry about that orange sugar concoction yesterday morning. Mommy had to do the blood sugar test and the orange drink was part of the test. I know it’s gross, I had to drink it, too.

Mommy’s finally cut off all the tags and labels off your new clothes and they are now in the washer. Makes me wonder why manufacturers have to put so many darn tags and labels on baby clothes…I think we have enough clothes and toys for now, we’ll get you more later on…

There is however, one thing I haven’t crossed off the shopping list yet. It’s something that’s completely unnecessary but somehow it also gives me that “I bought this so that makes me a good mother” feeling – Sophie la giraffe.

I’ve seen at Toys R Us, Baby’s World and even Chapters. It’s not expensive, the cheapest I’ve seens so far is CA$15.99 at Pinky & Blue in Richmond. But still, it’s something that would deem “useless”, plus what if we have a boy, what boy would want a French giraffe named Sophie?

hmmm…but then again, there’s something about the toy that makes it so irresistable, so “must-have”…let’s hope we’re getting a daughter!

Dad’s been in the hospital since Friday night and he hasn’t woken up yet. Tests and scans have been done and all suggests that the likelyhood of him waking up is slim. The doctor explained to us yesterday that while we can put in a trach and PAC, they will all just be supporting him and it’s up to him to wake up and/or recover.

My only wish now is dad will make it and will wake up so that he can hold my baby in his arms and see him/her smile and say “公公 I love you”.

So we went in for our 2nd ultrasound yesterday. This time I followed all the instructions on the back of that pink slip – don’t empty bladder 3 hours prior, drink 32 oz. fluid 2 hours prior. By the time Jason came home to pick me up, my bladder was so full it was ready to burst any minute. Good thing I didn’t have to sneeze the entire way to the radiology clinic.

The technician said they don’t usually look for the gender of the baby until 24 weeks, so we are 3 weeks early. Then she also said that I’ll probably won’t be getting any more ultrasounds done unless my OB/GYN feels it’s necessary (ie. suspect something’s wrong with the baby). So, WTF she telling me about ultrasound at 24 weeks when I won’t be needing one after 20wks??

Baby was being very uncooperative during the ultrasound scanning. The technician had to press so hard on my belly (and full bladder) to get good scans of the baby….my bladder!!

After all the scanning and measuring, she finally turned the monitor towards me. There I saw this little baby inside my belly, tap dancing, sliding across my belly and raising the roof. Very active, I must say…cute now, but later on when it’s running out of space inside, I hope he’ll adopt less “all over the place” dance moves.

First it was the frequent visits to the washroom. Then it was learning how to sleep on my left and right side so I won’t “squish” the baby. Then, sore arms kept me up all night (arms so sore and numb that they remain tingly most part of the day). Then, finally I learned how to sleep on my back with my arms elevated on a pillow beside me…now, someone’s telling me that sore/numb arms is caused by a decrease in circulation caused by the baby lying on some nerves and it happens most often when sleeping flat on back.

救命呀! 咁又唔好,咁又唔得…all I want is just to sleep through the night…

Jason and I have finally decided on two baby names. “Aiden” for a boy and “Ella” for a girl. We’ll have to wait until the baby is born before we will decide on the middle-names. We’re doing it to traditional Chinese way – give the baby’s birth date and time to a fortune teller and have him suggest a few names (names that create the 5-element balance). Then, Jason’s dad’s going to pick the one that he likes.

I’m going in for another ultrasound next week. Hopefully then, I’ll be able to find out if we’re having a girl or a boy. We really need to start planning the nursery and knowing the sex really would make life a lot easier – it’ll for sure make shopping much easier. I am secertly hoping it’s a girl, I want to get her all the cute Hello Kitty, Barbie, Cabbage Patch Kids…My Ella’s gonna be one pretty princess!

And as per request, we’ll have a baby pool, too, on both the sex and the due date.
