Aiya…

And I woke up this morning, fine as usual.

Jason and I went to Babies R Us over the weekend to check out prices of baby stuff. We figured that right now, all we need is a crib, changing table, car seat, stroller and a baby rocker, in terms of furniture. It’s so surreal looking at all the baby stuff. We want to keep everything white, to go with the rest of our home. Jason was also looking for NHL crib bedding. Silly daddy.

Just a couple more days and the first trimester will be done. I can’t wait till my doctor’s appointment on the 13th. I can’t wait to see our baby on the ultrasound.

It has never snowed so much in Vancouver…at least not that I remember. Jason said it could be a sign, that our baby will be a winter-sports loving kid when s/he grows up. Hmmm…I hope so.

We were watching the IIHF games preview special last night and seeing Pat Quinn on TV was just amazing. I love that guy. Too bad he’s already 65, I really do hope that someday, our kid will get the chance to work with him.

So, Week 12 has officially started. I am noticing the nausea/morning sickness has indeed went down a bit. I am still very tired most of the time, but I don’t feel sick anymore, which is very good. I am taking this and the next week off, so by the time I get back to work in January, I should be my old self again.

Which reminds me, I gotta start knitting soon. I found so many cute things I want to knit for our baby – blankets, sweaters, booties…Though I do want to find out if I should be knitting pink or baby blue, I think I’ll do mostly whites and pastel yellow, to go with the whole “snow” theme.

Sometimes I really wonder if we’re ready. I know no one is ever ready to be a parent, it just happens, but are we ready to be pregnant?

I mean, I had no idea how bad morning sickness was going to be. I’ve been losing sleep and missing work so far because of it. I feel bad for not showing up at work, there have been days where I’m physically there, but mentally, I’m…Then, there’s the emotional/hormonal roller-coaster (hence me blogging at 2:30am). Honestly, I am definitely not ready for all these.

Then, the whole thing about feeling “forced” to get married just so parents feel less “embarrassed” about the fact that we’re pregnant but unmarried. It’s like, they’re happy to see us arbitrarily pick some random date and then waste money on a useless dinner party where no one really gives a shit about it. All just to “get married before tummy’s showing” because waiting until then or after the kid is born is “embarrassing”. Maybe someone would understand that I don’t want to do jack shit in the first trimester. I am too sick and tired to do anything, and at this time, I think my happiness and well-being is more important than anything else. I am definitely not ready for all these whoop-las and stupid pressure.

Finally, speaking of fatigue, I am so sick and tired of feeling so tired all the time. I am at the point where I envy all those women on those pregnancy forums claiming they “spent 20+ hours a day” or “husband did everything: cooking, cleaning…” and I feel guilty for feeling so exhausted and wanting only to nap. I just want him to understand that the first three months’ like that and it’s not my fault. I do want to do things with him and nap less, but when it hits me, like today, after cleaning 1/2 the house, I need a nap. And like tonight, I felt so sick after seeing all the people and cars and lights downtown. Maybe he’s right, I should’ve just stayed home and let him go get his damn pizza himself. I don’t think he’s ready for a pregnant me, though he might be ready to be a dad.

I’m hungry again and I’m craving for a McChicken! Good thing there’s a few McD’s in Richmond that opens 24 hours! At least I know there’s going to be a burger and fries ready for me.

Mom was telling me the other day that whatever I eat in the first three months goes to my thighs and hips, what I eat in the next 6 months goes to the baby. I’ve been giving into cravings a lot lately, eating a lot of rice noodle, bread and chocolate, which is not good. So, after a long day of thinking, I’ve decided to stop all unhealthy eating habits and concentrate on eating more healthy. This morning, I woke up and went to the supermarket and got celery, carrots, tomatoes, cabbage, potatoes, onions, chicken broth and ox tail and I made a big pot of 羅宋湯.

That’s what Jason and I had for dinner…oh yah, we made Shake & Bake drumsticks and wings, too. I also made a batch of ginger cookies.
